When placing the imps, note the compass bottom right - set this to West, so the Imps are facing the player when he enters. Also check "deaf" above - this means they won't be aware of him until they see him, otherwise they'd be clustered right by the door. Create a new Thing in S2, this time Player Starts - Player 1 Start, and face it South. If you like, add some eyecandy Things around the map from Obstacles, Light Sources and Decorations
