Fan films gone wrong: Part 2

The good, the bad, and the WTF

Words: David Houghton, GamesRadar UK

 Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy

The reason abstract reworkings are usually more successful than serious attempts at recreating games is that to do the latter takes a hell of a lot of money and professional equipment. But if you’ve got access to those facilities and you care enough about the project, some stunning things can come about. Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy puts all other MGS fan projects to shame.

The full feature is a passion project which has been in production for a few years now, and once got dangerously close to cancellation due to budgetary touble. It’s currently back on schedule for a June release, but to be honest, if production dragged on for another decade we’d be happy ‘til then just with this trailer.
