The first Ghostbusters game was terrible
This won’t be the first Ghostbusters game to hit the market. Activision released a game to tie in with the first movie at around the time of its release, but it was, frankly, an agonising experience. Between 1980s home computer technology and some staggeringly inept and rushed design, the level of fun involved was akin to pulling one’s own teeth out with one’s own fingers. Through one’s own eye sockets.
There have been various other Ghostbusters-related games since, but none have done the franchise justice. With modern technology though, and with no movie release deadlines to hit, a new game has the potential to finally be the interactive tribute that the movies deserve. We’ve made so many developments in game design, storytelling and atmospherics since 1984 that this could really be the game which allows the eight year old in all of us to at last be a Ghostbuster.
