Ghostbusters The Video Game

A new Ghostbusters game. Do we even care?

Over two decades after the first film was released, is there any point in a game based on Ghostbusters?

Words: David Houghton, GamesRadar UK

Gadgets

Hardware is a vital part of the modern shooter. It’s the array of guns, equipment and technological tricks that always makes the game, and it’s those that you’ll be talking about long after the level design or graphics have become secondary thoughts. Can you imagine Half-Life 2 without the gravity gun? Or Turok with out the cerebral bore? Doom without a chainsaw or Quake 3 without a rail gun? What would be the point?

Two words: Proton pack. There is no cooler piece of combat hardware in any movie than the back-mounted unlicensed nuclear accelerator. It looks badass, it sounds sublime, and it packs enough power to inadvertently tear a ballroom in half while you go after a single small green ghost. Add to that the whole array of PKE meters, ghost traps and containment units, and you’ve got some very cool tech with some even cooler gameplay possibilities.
