DSOGaming writes: "This is awesome. No no no, this is beyond awesomeness. Ive always wanted to play Mortal Kombat online and to my surprise, this Doom mod offers exactly that in a pretty cool way. Modder Doomero has released the second beta version of his UMK 3 X GZDOOM TOB, that lets you play online, a mix between UMK3 and MK Trilogy in Doom. This mod is only compatible with gzdoom tob, and the file contains all you need: skins foldier (contain the mk wad), gzdoom tob, zlauncher (multiplayer), fmodex, etc, see the readme for more instuctions."
DSOGaming writes: "Eighteen years ago, a first person shooter came to change the way we perceive video games today. A small gaming studio in Texas, a bunch of gamers with a passion and a vision released a shareware version of their latest game that became a hit in due time. The legendary Doom, the daddy of all FPS and successor to our beloved Wolfenstein, got released. Eighteen years since its first appearance and this bad boy is still one of our favourite FPS as it reminds us of what FPS games were back in the days."
DIYGamer: The Doom shareware episode Knee Deep In The Dead is a cornerstone of modern gaming. It was one of the first major game releases to be distributed online, and it set the standard for networked multiplayer, bringing deathmatch to the masses. The layout of those familiar few levels is burnt indelibly into the minds of many. Recently released Doom 1 (yes, you need the original, full game along with the modernized GZDoom engine) mod The Phobos Directive sets out to give you a fresh spin on those familiar environments.
Ladies and gentlemen, we stand together on a momentous day. Truly, it is one that will go down as a landmark in the history of human freedom and man's progressive attitude towards art, his fellow man, and in fact pretty much every aspect of everything relating to human existence ever. Because today, I am delighted to be able to report, is the day that Doom and Doom II have finally been cleared for general release by the German ratings board.
Share in this victory people, for in a way, we have all taken our first step towards a new, more enlightened state of being this day.
Looks like Hollywood isnt wasting any time trying to reboot previously failed movie franchises. The latest rumor is that a reboot of 2005s failed video game to movie adaptation Doom is in the works. Apparently there are reports that Universal (which still owns the rights to Doom) is in the early stages of development on a reboot not even six years after the release of the first film.
Doom fans probably still have sour memories over the 2005 film adaptation of the classic FPS. After netting a lot of criticism and grossing less money than the movie cost to produce, it did nothing but add to the list of failed video game-based movies.
Despite all that, Universal has decided to take another stab at recreating the lore and intensity of Doom on the big screen...
I'm not ashamed to admit when I was in high school, I spent a great deal of my time in trigonometry class playing tic-tac-toe on my TI-83 graphing calculator. Thank goodness I'm not going to high school now because I'd never get any homework done, as the ultimate timekiller has arrived for the TI platform: an entire port of classic PC shooter Doom, courtesy of people on the Omnimanga forums.
