"The week ending on September 12th was huge when it came to gaming media and news… more-so media than news, though. We have a fairly big offering of Media Blowouts this week, ranging from Left 4 Dead 2, Shank, the time-traveling FPS Darkest of Days and Forza Motorsport 3. Speaking of Forza new demo info was released now that the game has gone gold and that only spells good news for racing fans. Did I also happen to mention we have an exclusive interview with the Aion design team? Yeah well that's in here, too. Probably the most shocking news of the week, however, came in the form of RedSpot announcing that they have a new Dreamcast game on the way. You'll have to see the game to believe it. These stories and more in the Blend Games Weekly Recap."
According to their results the additional GPU accelerated Physx effects are most challenging for the hardware. A Core 2 Quad with 2.7 GHz and a Geforce GTX 280 doesn't even reach a single frame per second if the Physx effects are calculated on the CPU and not the GPU.

Darkest of Days will release on September 9th for Xbox 360 and PC and allow gamers to travel back in time and change the course of history through helping to save key influential figures - as the video shows you can take your M16 with you as well… lovely!

First person shooters are an extremely popular genre and not a day goes by without hearing of the next one that will grace our consoles in the coming months but sometimes one creeps up on you and you wonder how you manage to avoid hearing about it. In this case its an FPS from Phantom EFX and independent game development studio 8monkey Labs titled Darkest of Days and the game utilises their own proprietary game engine aptly called Marmoset which has been in development for 3 years. Marmoset will allow 8monkey labs to support large numbers of active characters on screen, in game levels that are up to 4 square miles in size all densely populated with trees, bushes and weeds and an AI that is able to drive behaviors for hundreds of characters simultaneously whilst maintaining fantastic detail for one-on-one encounters with the player.

As for the story of Darkest Days well it is set at the end of The Battle for Little Big Horn and players will take on the role of the main character Alexander Morris a foot soldier of General Custer. Everything is going well but just as the battle takes a turn for the worse a futuristic time agent warps in to save Morris and transports him to the future where he is told that time travel is now a reality.
