Crytek: "Crysis could be on the 360 or PS3"

Crytek's CEO Cevat Yerli throws gallons of fuel on the gossip fires

Crysis heading to PS3 and Xbox 360 - it's the speculation that's refused to lay down and die. And now, dangling a carrot in front of the faces of those who wish it would, Crytek says it could happen.

"Theoretically, anything could run anywhere," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told UK PC Gamer magazine when asked if he still believed the first-person shooter couldn't run on console.

"Crysis could be on the 360 or PS3," Yerli said.

"It requires optimization, that's what we've always communicated," he went on. "What you would not do is make Crysis on PS3, 360 and PC for a single shipping date, because we would lose the quality focus.

"So I say, 'First PC version, then we'll see what happens.'"

So don't go singing "Crysis on console" from the rooftops just yet - Yerli added that there aren't any plans for Crysis on PS3 and Xbox 360 currently. "[I]t's a matter of how far we can take each platform," says Yerli. Crytek would not go to a platform unless it could make the game "number one there."

But remember: it could happen...
