Yup, still one of the most foolish game titles in the past year. Beyond that there's a puzzle game involving flowers and a hardcore naval strategy game. This week's odd offerings are diminished by last week's new Sam & Max adventure.
Be prepared for a shock. Conflict: Denied Ops ditches all of the features we came to love in favour of a fast-paced, almost arcade-like co-op blast. The four-man squad is cut down to a duo, the real war zones are now an imaginary struggle against rogue terrorist gangs and there’s no additional weapons.
Eidos has released a PC demo of Conflict: Denied Ops, the latest game in the Conflict franchise from series developer Pivotal Games.

The demo can be downloaded here and features both single-player and two-player co-op modes.

Traditionally the Conflict series has fared better on console than PC, but if you download the demo and give it a spin let us know what you think.

IGN reports: "Renowned for his Hollywood caliber orchestral writing, multiple award-winning composer Richard Jacques (Headhunter, Mass Effect) has scored an original music soundtrack for CONFLICT: DENIED OPS, a new two-player co-op first person shooter from Pivotal Games and the fifth game in the best-selling CONFLICT series. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in February 2008.

Right - before we go any further, there's something you should see. It's a video of Conflict: Denied Ops in action with some details from one of the game's designers, Terry Watts. Take a look and see what you think.

It's the gameplay. That same gameplay we've seen a hundred times ...
How does this co-op game work if you don't have a friend to play with? Well, we don't have any friends, and we got to try out the game. You switch between characters on the fly by hitting a button at anytime. The camera does a little overhead zoom thing and flies out of one guy's head and into the other one. Whoever's brain you're not inhabiting is controlled by AI. The game did a good job of backing us up, although we only played a bit past the first ...

Gameplayer today received a release schedule form local distributor Eidos showing off the price and date for the next game in the popular Conflict series, Denied Ops. Interestingly the game will be more expensive on Xbox 360... is this the start of a new trend?

"This is the first time we can recall a multi-format game selling for a greater price on the Xbox 360 than the PS3... or vice versa. Why do Xbox 360 owners have to pay more? It's not like they get their online for free, either."

It's been a while since CVG's heard anything from Conflict: Denied Ops, but Eidos has ended the drought today with these ten brand spanking new screenshots.

Previous games in the Conflict series have gone down a (Desert) storm on console, but for this new instalment the series' four-man, squad-based formula has been ditched in favour of a focus on two-solider co-op action.

Eidos has spoken previously of how Denied Ops features gameplay that's focussed on "accessible two-man tactics" - talking about switching seamlessly between teammates to lay down covering fire, exploring diverging paths, creating distractions and pinning the enemy under fire, for example.

It's due out next year on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
When the US government needs something shady done, they call you, an elite member of the CIA's Special Activities Division. Conflict: Denied Ops seems fairly familiar on the surface with its typical covert ops protagonists and a South American country in political turmoil. But developer, Pivotol Games has an interesting ace up their sleeve: single-player co-op.

During Conflict's single-player campaign, you'll be able to switch off between Langs, a heavy weapons gunner, and ...
Previously known as Crossfire, Conflict: Denied Ops is throwing all its grenades into the co-op basket, by allowing you and a friend to tackle the whole game side by side. But dont panic. If youre all alone the AI will happily take control of the other agent as you blast your way across South America, Africa and Russia.

Take a look at down your rifle at the shot below for your first glimpse for the two field operatives in action. Alternatively check out the gallery, where youll ...
Eidos and Pivotal Games' Conflict squad-based shooter series, which has always proved popular with console jockeys, is back and blasting co-op guns in Conflict: Denied Ops (previously known under the working title "Crossfire").

The subtitle "Denied Ops" means that the two stars of the game are operatives hired by the government but ones who have no links traceable back to the corridors of power.

Sounding a bit like EA's Army of Two, Eidos says the new Conflict game features ...
