Conflict: Denied Ops

Conflict: Denied Ops hands-on

Plus video of the game in action

We tried all of the versions and came away most impressed with the PC game, mainly due to its super-smooth framerate. The action seemed faster too, although this did mean enemy soldiers were running around like their asses were on fire, a tad unrealistically. The PS3 game is the least polished, but still runs smoothly and the shadows look nice.

It's a shame the Conflict Series doesn't look to have evolved as significantly as Call of Duty did last year. While Modern Warfare has taken the CoD series in a new and exciting direction, with modern weapons and a brilliantly playable and engaging online multiplayer, Denied Ops seems more of a step sideways than forwards. In fact, after our quite lengthy time with the game, the cut-down team mechanic appears to be more of a hindrance than another string to your tactical bow.

The game's scheduled for release in the UK on February 1, so look out for a review soon.
