Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts

You're in good company

But this isn’t just about new locations. Relic is investing in the underlying technology that powers the game, making the very battlefields we fight on more dynamic. The weather now plays its part - expect rain to pass over during the course of the battle, leaving puddles to splash about in. And the time of day plays its role too. In the original Company of Heroes, you might fight at night but it was a perpetual night. Now, wait to attack and the sun will gradually set, leaving you to blindly probe in the dark. By morning, you’ll be witness to a graveyard of tanks, half-tracks and dead men, all of which will be preserved on the field for the next stage of conflict.

It’s still not quite enough. Our ideal World War II game would include even more. Russians. Island-hopping in the Pacific. Expanded air power and naval bombardments. Japan. Italy.

They will come, eventually. Like the general plotting his next move, Relic is clearly choosing their targets carefully, saving their technology for the right battles. Until then, we’ll be happy playing in the mud.
