PC - Champions Online - Champions Online Nemesis Battles To Be "PvP Style" IncGamers report, following their interview with Bill Roper, that the climactic Nemesis battles in Champions Online are going to play out like PvP fights.

"They don't do things like a lot of AIs you see that are on timers or other shticks, but they actually use powers, use cooldown, and react just like a player does in terms of how they use their powers and what you're doing," according to Roper.

PC - Champions Online - Rumor: Cryptic using City of Heroes for Champions beta recruitment Massively:

"According to a forum post on f13.net, City of Heroes players have allegedly been receiving Champions Online beta solicitations from Cryptic Studios via NCsoft's official game forums and in-game message system.

Our initial reaction to this claim was to feel highly speculative, considering that phishing scams will try just about anything. However, a news post on the City of Heroes website recently stated, "Although we cannot stop someone from initially communicating with you - whether it be RMT (real money transaction) related, another game company trying to lure you to their competing product, or general spamming..." which gives rise to some concern."

PC - Champions Online - Vehicles, 200 weapons and hospitalized writers in Champions Online Massively:

"All right, so maybe the 200 mundane weapons available in Champions Online won't fit into a vehicle -- but it makes for some startling imagery. Unfortunately, according to the panel which took place last weekend at the New York Comic-con, Champions Online is unlikely to launch with drivable wheels of steel or any other form of bodacious transportation. But don't feel like all is lost, because Cryptic was quick mention that situation would be remedied soon after CO-day."

PC - Champions Online - Ask Cryptic - January 22, 2009 Another series of community-supplied questions and answers is sitting on the Champions Online website just in time for the weekend. As usual, Cryptic cherry-picked a nice variety of inquiries that vary from how much non-combat content the game would have, to whether or not in-game social gathering locations an events were planned.

Social spots/events are being facilitated in a big way, so no surprises there. Although you may find yourself a little surprised concerning non-combat in Champions Online. Combat? There's a lot of it - shock! But that doesn't mean Cryptic is blind to the fact that some superheroes do much more than pound faces until they look like a bowl of meat pudding.

PC - Champions Online - Ask Cryptic - January 6, 2009 Cryptic Studios writes, " Will there be power collision? As in if two "beam" powers collide will there be some kind of effect? One overpowers the other, or there is some kind of struggle? (TruthSeer)

While the idea of players being able to intercept enemy powers with their own powers is founded in some great comic book examples, we simply don't have the kind of technology available to have powers clash. If we were able to harness that kind of power on our PCs, it would equate to dividing by zero and the earth imploding.

Will the Arch Villain creation system be as in depth as the Hero creation system, making it twice as long (and twice as fun)? (jhonderbler)

The Nemesis system has several elements in common with the way a hero is created, but it also has some key differences. You use the same costume creation system, which allows you to have a very defined and specific look for your nemesis. We found with CoV that players often want their bad guys to look good and their good guys to look bad. Powers are selected from a wide variety of established power templates to allow us to create arch-enemies with the best balance possible. You then get to choose a lot of things that are specifically designed for your Nemesis, such as personality, motivation, and minion types /costumes / powers..."
