Online game maker Cryptic Studios said its most recent MMORPG, the Atari-published Champions Online, has garnered over 1 million created superhero characters, but the size of the subscriber base is unclear.
Champions Online design director Bill Roper gave a State of the Game address to players today. He outlined some of the future content on the way and also teased a big announcement.

Crytpic, makers of superhero MMO Champions Online, has revealed a slew of new items that will be available on Tuesday October 19th, after the scheduled midnight downtime, in the C-Store, their microtransaction store for in-game items. The new items include two entire new costume sets, including a Halloween-themed set, a Beast Cyborg and Samurai one, new emblems, full respec tokens, rename tokens, additional character slots, and additional costume slots.
Champions Online players can now make comic strips that star their own characters, thanks to a new collaboration between Cryptic Studios and MashON.

Today's Champions Online patch doesn't include a free re-specialization feature but there's an easy way to do it anyway.
Champions Online has received a large update bringing over 150 documented fixes, tweaks and improvements spanning several different areas of the game.
Super hero MMORPG Champions Online just launched yesterday and there's already new content lined up. In late October, you can expect a "Blood Moon" update to arrive.

In spite of the news that Marvel Comics is being bought by Disney, it's a relatively good day to be a superhero today, as we have more new screen shots from DC Universe Online, some news on Champions online, and a little speculation on City of Heroes.
