Word is circulating that Infinity Ward will release a post launch download for the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4 that'll add online co-op play.
Reported on Gameplayer.com.au, speculation was sparked by comments from the developer's studio head and president, Grant Collier, who spoke at a press event over the weekend.
"Uh, no, I'm not really supposed to say anything about that... but I'm a big fan of Xbox Live and downloadable content,” he responded to a general question about the possibility of co-op play.
Collier was then asked whether online co-op play for Call of Duty 4 on 360 will be added via a download after the shooter's out. Apparently he "grinned nervously, practically beaming as he said nothing more."
Online co-op play added to Call of Duty 4 would be another feather in the game’s cap and extra edge with which to battle Halo 3. Infinity Ward has previously stated its aim to topple Bungie's juggernaut from the top spot of first-person shooters.
Call of Duty 4 publisher Activision was unable to comment on the issue when contacted at time of press.
