Never-before-seen enemies from the end of the game

We recently got some hands-on time with Borderlands, the hybrid shooter/RPG due out later this month. We played a massively power-leveled Lilith character in two of the game’s later areas: Old Haven and The Crimson Enclave. Old Haven is a ramshackle city setting, while the Crimson Enclave is the high-elevation fortress of the Crimson Lance. While the new areas stick to Borderlands’ muted color palette, they do change things up slightly from what we’ve seen previously.

Above: The peaceful streets of Old Haven

As you saw in the video above, Crimson Lance soldiers are heavily armored and carry big, bulky weapons. They’re Borderlands’ Brotherhood of Steel, essentially. We saw a couple of them carrying riot shields, which made them effectively bulletproof from the front. Lilith’s Phasewalk ability was especially useful for getting around behind them.

Above: Not a Helghast

Lucky for us, all the level grinding was done ahead of time so our Lilith was up to level 35 and was decked out with top-shelf weaponry. Now watch as she makes short work of a Crimson Lance patrol and assaults a stronghold.

I seriously cannot wait to play this game. Damn, this looks awesome! I agree, I think the art style is fantastic, and much improved from the "Generi-brown" colored "just another shooter with guns" approach before. Although, am I the only one, or did the death sounds in these videos sound extremely annoying, and bordering on the "I'm turning into the Lizard now!" MMMRRRAARRRGGHH! yell from the podcasts?

I so want this game!!!!!! Too bad I probably won't be able to scrounge up the case until around christmas time since I decided to pre-order Dragon Age. It will be good and all (Bioware game), but this game looks so awesome... Well that settles it. Dragon Age will be my beloved dialouge-heavy game where I beat the shit out of people and Borderlands will be my twitchy shooting fun. I well find a way to get both of them day one. Somehow.... Oh and did anyone actually see a grenade kill anyone in the videos?

Let me guess the game takes place on the US and Mexico border.
This game is teaching people new ways to hop the border into other countries.

Awesome but whats with the same dying sounds, wtf!? Is it because the weapons use flame damage or something? After seeing the youtube videos I decided I'd play as Lilith as well, magic powers and guns ftw.

Is it just me or did anyone else find it weird that the enemy only screamed AFTER they were dead?

Graphics are different from the crop out there and that in itself makes it worth checking out. However, the gameplay doesn't thrill me as much. I am interested enough to check out the reviews before purchasing the game but I'm not pre-ordering it.

Those assholes will release it on the US in the 23rd but an antire week later in Europe!
Why do they make us wait so long?
Also, tesDD's, check your facts before saying stupid things you idiot. The game takes place in a derelict planet full of mercs, pervs, wild animals and soldiers.
Also, people, don't buy MW2!Activision made it more expensive for no damn reason! And this game will be much better anyway.

I'm still a bit iffy on this one, but if the reviews hold up, it's a sure buy for me.
