In an Interview with Strategy Informer, Gearbox Software President, CEO and co-founder Randy Pitchford said that Diablo has a huge influence on its upcoming RPS (Role-playing shooter) Borderlands, but only on the role-playing side of it.

Eurogamer has announced that twelve of the games industry's biggest publishers have signed up for this year's Eurogamer Expo. 2K Games have just announced the release date for their upcoming role-playing first person shooter title, Borderlands. It's scheduled to be released on the 23rd of October, 2009 in the United Kingdom.
At last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Gearbox Software revealed that its eagerly anticipated "role-playing shooter" Borderlands would ship in October. Now, with retail lines being drawn in the holiday-quarter sand, 2K Games has locked down the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 title's exact launch date: October 20 in North America and October 23 in the UK, mainland Europe, Australia, and other territories.

As of December 22, 2008 Nvidia has a contract with 2k Games to use the new PhysX-technology in up coming game releases such as Borderlands, which will be the one of the first titles in which to have the real-time physics.
