2K removes the hated install limits on the PC version of BioShock

2KGames informs us that the much-maligned SecuROM copy protection has been removed from BioShock. From the official 2Kgames.com forums:

“Good news! As promised, all activation restrictions, including install limits, have been removed from BioShock PC as of today. You don’t have to patch or install anything for this to go into effect for your copy of BioShock – it’s already done!

Enjoy your time in Rapture, and thank you for supporting BioShock and the 2K teams.”

This move by 2K doesn’t make everything right (those launch-day headaches were still a pain in the butt), but it does at least let us know that we can trust them to do the right thing in the long run and make sure that when we want to revisit Rapture in five years, we won’t be stopped at the airlock by a SecuROM security guard. Are you paying attention, EA? We expect the same treatment for Mass Effect a few months down the line.
