Battlefield Heroes - launch content revealed

So what does a free download get you?

Despite a continuing lack of official in-game views of Battlefield Heroes from EA, details on the series spin off continue to seep out.

The new information wave reveals that the free-to-download, free-to-play game (set in WWII) will initially launch with two teams (National Army and Royal Army) and two to three maps. EA plans to boost the level count after release.

We’ve been told that players will select a character that levels up during the action, but it's now emerged that they'll gain access to a variety of abilities.

In keeping with Battlefield Heroes' cartoony nature, the abilities are over the top - like inflammable ammo and chuck-back-seven-grenades-in-the-face-of-your-enemy revealed.

Unlike other Battlefield games, Heroes doesn't feature selectable insertion points in maps. Instead, where you enter the fray is chosen for you. Outside of that gameplay sounds familiar with details on a Conquest play mode revealing that flag capture and the ticket system is still t here.

And, as this is a Battlefield game, you'll be able to leap into planes and tanks. But due to the cartoony tone, EA has gone for an unrealistic size proportions between character and vehicle.

Warner Bros cartoon gone wrong or recipe for hilarity? Some in-game screens would really help us decide, EA...
