If your anything like me then you have been waiting and wondering when the Battlefield Heroes Beta would return to action. Well wait no more (ok, well maybe like 12hours), it will finally be back online Wed, Feb 11th as seen on their official website. Anyone that has a beta key already will be able to log on to the beta servers starting tomorrow.
As reported by shacknews last week Battlefield Heroes is expected to be released by April full scale. So we can not say for sure but we would expect a lot more people to be receiving beta keys in the next few weeks to help with the testing. If you have not signed up for a beta key yet then you might want to go here and do so now.

"It's been a while since there's been any real news on the Battlefield Heroes front. The upcoming downloadable multiplayer shooter from Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts had been in a closed beta for much of 2008 but near the end of the year the developers announced they were closing the beta test down to work more on the game's back end.
While there's still no word yet on when the beta test will resume (much less a final release date) the Battlefield Heroes web site is showing signs of new life lately, including a new post on how they are making the maps that will be put into the game. Map making for the game depends on several factors (Do we make the map with vehicles? How do we make the landscape natural?). before the final product is done. Of course the question we want answered is, "When can we play the game that the map is made for?" So far there's been no answer to that inquiry."

Work continues on Battlefield Heroes despite the recent closure of the game's beta, and producer Aleksander Grondal recently talked it up with Gamasutra. Grondal isn't a Battlefield developer veteran, instead having previously worked on Anarchy Online and Dreamfall at Funcom. As such, he brings a different mentality to the team working on Heroes, which he claims is a mixture of half newcomers to the series and half previous Battlefield developers.» Read More

Eurogamers writes: "EA and DICE's free-to-play PC online shooter Battlefield Heroes has opted to close its beta test and delay itself into next year.
Producer James Salt said in a post on the game's site that the game's closed beta would shut down at 6pm central European time - that's 5pm UK time - today, and not return until "early next year".
"We have received lots of great feedback from our beta testers. So much so that we are now ready to enter our next phase," Salt said."

Acclaim Inc founder and development veteran David Perry has told GamesIndustry.biz that he believes forthcoming Electronic Arts title Battlefield Heroes will be "a huge hit" and that he has "incredible faith that EA is going to pull this off."
Perry, talking in the build-up to his keynote talk at this year's GCDC event, is currently working on titles utilising the free-to-play model, including the massively-developed online racing game Project: Top Secret.

Running from enemy gun turrets, tanks and fighter planes is nothing new for players of "Battlefield," a franchise that fired its first shot in World War II but has since tackled Vietnam and modern combat. Its most recent tour of duty, "Battlefield: Bad Company," has sold 1.6 million units worldwide since June.
The next war "Battlefield" has waged, however, is a guerrilla assault on the free-to-play games business model. The game's publisher, Electronic Arts, is the first major U.S. videogame company to launch a free-to-play game, and it unveiled user statistics on its pilot game, "Battlefield Heroes," Thursday.
