During recent days, you could see a fierce battle between AMD and Nvidia PR teams over Batman: Arkham Asylum and the fact that PhysX and AA works only when you run it on Nvidia GPUs, while on AMD cards the game worked, but without the in-game AA.

Nvidia's team worked with developers and designed the AA engine by themselves. That's a clear fact, and thus the game does indeed look better when paired up with an Nvidia GPU. On the other hand, AMD's PR team is adamant that Nvidia had a lot to do with the fact that the game simply doesn't like AMD GPUs. According to a statement made by AMD's Ian McNaughton, AMD did provide the developer with a solution, but it didn't make its way into the final release of the game.

Fudzilla: As we already wrote before, Nvidia is putting a lot of backing behind Batman: Arkham Asylum game, and according to what we have seen, this is the first game where PhysX actually matters and brings some benefit. It doesn't come as a surprise that Nvidia partners will start to announce their Batman: Arkham Asylum bundles and Point of View is the first one to get these to the European market, in the guise of Point of View's GTX 275 Joker Edition.

The card is basically the same old Nvidia Geforce GTX 275 with 240 stream processors, working at 633MHz for the core, 2268MHz for 896MB of GDDR3 memory, and 1404MHz for shaders. It has a 448-bit memory interface and supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, Nvidia SLI, and of course PhysX, something that this bundle is all about.

The official Games For Windows website proudly announces that the PC version of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum will be a Games for Windows Live title.

This means Games for Windows Live players of Batman: Arkham Asylum will be able to earn Gamerscore points by unlocking achievements, and really that's about it. There's Live connectivity, but being a single player game, Arkham Asylum really doesn't get much of a boost from this.

Still, it is good to see more PC titles slipping under the Games for Window Live banner. Of all of the games released as part of the Games for Windows brand, only 15 so far have been Live-enabled. With DIRT 2, Battlestations Pacific, Fuel, Stromrise, and now Batman: Arkham Asylum all due out this year for Games for Windows Live, the service seems to slowly been picking up steam. Fingers crossed, Games for Windows Live!
