At a time when people are seeing the sun rise on so many new and interesting massively multiplayer games, it's sad to report there will be one less out there soon. NCSoft has announced that they will be closing down Auto Assault as of September 1st of this year. The official announcement was terse, saying that players would be compensated and the service will be going offline at midnight on August 31st. More details on this and other MMO's after link..

A free update for Auto Assault has today been released in Europe and North America. Both new and current players will benefit from the update with new missions, loot, enhanced tournament play and system-level changes.
While the guns-on-cars theme seems as natural to us as "snakes on a plane", the massively multiplayer car-P-G Auto Assault clearly hasn't resonated with gamers. Players found themselves adventuring in a post-apocalyptic world that was just a wee bit too empty due to abysmal subscriber numbers. As a result, parent publisher NCSoft announced today that all of Auto Assault's servers will merge into a single one located in North America.
