Assassin's Creed

Time-traveling assassination thriller or historical climbing sim?

As reported, any ledge or surface that sticks out more than a couple of inches can be grabbed-up real good, but in an environmental landscape this interactive you’re going to need a helping hand. This comes in the shape of the aforementioned rumble function. Sorry to all you PC and PS3 guys, but if you owned a 360, you'd be able to feel Microsoft's controller giving you a little happy jig in your hand. It allows you to “feel” your grip on the ledges, with the vibrations becoming more intense as your clasp on the ridge weakens.

For a game that styles itself so blatantly as a medieval Hitman, it’s obvious that Ubisoft is hoping to make one of the longest and most time-consuming parts of Agent 47’s job - the reconnaissance - as engaging as the hit and run. But the AI of the crowd is a more contentious issue. Getting an entire crowd of people to act individually and spontaneously is a real stretch, and it remains to be seen if the crowd can act realistically without just lapsing into lazy routine.

Creed still has plenty of work to do before it can realize its promise. If Ubi gets it right though, this’ll be a numba-one stunner. Cash money records, foo.
