Playlogic Entertainment, Inc. - an independent worldwide publisher of entertainment software - has won the legal proceedings in copyrights to the game Ancient Wars: Sparta. So has decided the District Court of Amsterdam in the case of Playlogic Entertainment against WorldForge / Visionvale Ltd. from Cyprus and Burut Co. from Russia.

The provisional judge of the District Court of Amsterdam concludes that all the copyrights to the game Ancient Wars: Sparta always belonged to Playlogic pursuant to the agreement with WorldForge / Visionvale and Burut. The judge ruled in Playlogic's favour on all counts.
Ancient Wars: Sparta is a little late to take advantage of 300. The hit movie should have primed a large audience for a real time strategy game set in the historic struggle between the Greeks and Persians. The opening scenario in the Spartan campaign sets the stage for an extended flashback wherein King Leonidas explains why he has decided to undertake a hopeless mission in defense of all Greece. But it doesn't work.

Gamers will be more inclined to ask why the developer decided to engage such ...
Now that we've had a little peep at the Persian faction in forthcoming PC RTS Ancient Wars: Sparta, it's time to turn attention to the Egyptians. The Bangles once wrote a song about Egyptians, but they're probably not starring in this game.

Anyway, the Egyptian faction gets a number of unique units and structures to help turn the tide of battle in its favor. The Obelisk, for example, slows down enemy troops, while the Horus Priest can blind enemies or burn them with holy fire, and war engine ...
The latest media blast from forthcoming PC RTS Ancient Wars: Sparta finds the game's Persian faction peering out from beneath the rug. Ahem.

Blessed with gifted ship builders (they are the only faction able to construct a ship right at the shore, without the need of a dock or a harbour, apparently), the Persians also get cool battle elephants, massive ballistas for defense and employ battering rams to knock down walls and stuff.

But the crowning Persian glory are the Immortals, warriors hard ...
Can't help but feel an overwhelming, manly urge to look at pictures of armor-clad, skirt-wearing men running around thrusting spears through each other? We just received ten new screens of Ancient Wars: Sparta, and it looks like the game will be featuring plenty of just that.

To be fair, there will be three sets of warriors to choose from: the Romans, Egyptians and Persians. Including three factions will mean a large selection of things to thrust through each other - not just spears.

Although it does things by the book for the most part, Ancient Wars: Sparta does manage to add a few twists to the rock steady real-time strategy genre. Set between 300 BC and 700 AD, Sparta promises to give you a lesson in history and ass kicking with the ability to control armies from the Roman, Persian, or Egyptian empires.

But dont expect any major differences between these three armies that would cater to different play styles. Whether youre skewering an enemy with a Roman Spartans long ...
