Atari has issued a statement to Gamesindustry.biz about the recent reviews of Alone in the Dark. The company said that it's happy with UK reviews of AITD, but refused to comment when asked about the legal rumours that have started appearing on the web.

"We're happy with the review scores in the UK," a spokesperson explained. "We believe the game speaks for itself."

However, they then promptly pulled the review, and accusations of shady dealings were levelled against the site by Atari, who said that press copies had only been sent out the day before (the review has since been reinstated, and the 3/10 stands). Odd, seeing as many other European publications also had reviews go live this week, but whatever. 3. German site 4Players reviews the game. Gives it 68%. TISCALI Games informed that Alone in the Dark (PC version) will be next game using mandatory online authorization, similar to one from Mass Effect.

They also discovered that Mass Effect online-authorization won't apply for every language version of game - for example in Czech, it wont contain any type of online validation (after talks with BioWare, Czech publisher managed to use only Safedisc, instead of SecuROM online) and that Russian-version of Mass Effect should use StarForce as copy-protection.

A downloadable demo for the Xbox 360 edition of Alone in the Dark will not arrive until the title nears launch, according to a forum post from Atari Europe community administrator Tenebra.

Tenebra had previously indicated that a demo was in the planning stages for PC, X360 and PS3, with a debut planned for early May. Claiming they were given incorrect information, the administrator later clarified that an Xbox 360 demo would hit around the game's release, with "no confirmations on other formats."

New to our knowledge is Airborne Rangers for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There's no info, but it could be a new game based on a game of the same name released in the late 80s by MicroProse. You also probably know that, while the protagonist's name is Edward Carnaby, he has absolutely nothing in common with the original, more dapper Carnaby of the first game. But what else do you know about the game? Atari has just started its viral marketing campaign for Alone in the Dark as the mysterious website www.centraldark.com was launched. Atari sent out a press release with nothing more than this link. On the website, you can view a trailer which tells the story of what mystery lies under the ground of Central Park in New York. Beneath the trailer, however, there is a countdown which reaches zero on December 13.

PS2 and Wii have joined the platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) set to receive the new Alone in the Dark game from Atari.

So, PS2 and Wii versions are being developed by Hydravision (Eden Games is handling the other versions), and feature the same storyline as the previously announced outings for the revival of the venerable survival horror series.

According to Atari, PS2 and Wii versions of Alone in the Dark push respective hardware "hard", "incorporating many of the gameplay features found in the Xbox 360 version".
