There's an unpleasant rumor gathering strength in the Age of Conan community. It seems to have begun with YouGamers eight-page review, which (despite delivering a relatively healthy overall score of 76) is uncompromising in its criticism of those parts of the game that, in the reviewer's opinion, fall very short of what was advertised.

The bombshell comes on page 7, where the reviewer states outright that '... Age of Conan's weapon swing time depends on the duration of the visual swing animation, and female characters swing their weapons about 25% slower than males - so every female melee character does 25% less damage over time!'

Immediately, players demand to know whether this is true or not. Some report that it is; others report that they're not seeing anything at all different between their characters, and maybe it's down to class as much as gender. Although there's a lot of noise and not a lot of signal, the general consensus from the forums appears to be that female characters are indeed attacking more slowly, resulting in overall lower DPS.

Shacknews: Self-described "specialist in textile products" Inno-Wear today announced that it has acquired a license to produce clothing based on FunCom's mature MMO Age of Conan.

The company was vague on the specifics of its Age of Conan-branded offerings, which are expected to arrive later this year, but noted that the it will receive "the official marketing support of the publisher."

Despite the unenthusiastic and often mediocre reviews and scores given to Haze, according to Develop, the game developers news site, Haze has come in as a new entry at number 12,just under Rock Band, the highest climber. It even beat the mighty Age of Conan which has come in as a new entry at number 13.

Now that's not bad for a game with overall below average mixed reviews. Perhaps this is another indicator of reviewers being out of touch with what gamers in the real world get their kicks from.

Publisher Eidos tells MCV about its long-term plans for the title.

"We always expected a good performance, with Conan pre-ordering well," explained Eidos' senior product manager Paul Benjamin.

"We will, of course, be supporting Age of Conan with marketing activity for months. This is only the start of a continued campaign for a product which will have a long, long shelf life."

Age of Conan was also the most successful MMO launch outside of the World of Warcraft series, and Eidos feels that the game can complement Blizzard's smash hit franchise.

"The size of the World of Warcraft audience is what all MMO's aspire to achieve but Age of Conan is offering a unique, more mature and visceral experience," added Benjamin.

Just in case you're wondering, they fall on Monday and Thursday of every week, from 7-11am EDT. And no, in case you were curious, this isn't a permanent solution. Funcom has announced that Agee of Conan, a PC MMO, will pass the one million units shipped milestone in less than three weeks after its launch.

In the US Age of Conan has now moved past 500,000 units shipped, helping the game achieve the biggest MMO launch since World of Warcraft.

"Sales data shows that Age of Conan is the biggest MMO launch since World of Warcraft," says Funcom Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Morten Larssen. "The numbers are very promising, and we are very proud to be one of the fastest selling PC games ever in a launch month and the biggest simultaneous Europe/US MMO launch in history."

Age of Conan launched on May 20 in the US and on May 23 across Europe.

As you may have noticed we have had frequent patches the last two weeks. We hope this will soon start to quiet down, but as long as there are major issues - and there have been - we will dedicate the Conan team to fixing them and giving you these fixes as soon as possible! We have a plan on how to move this game forward because as you know, what you have today is but the platform - the dawn of this world. I hope you enjoy the game as is, but I can ensure you, this is but the beginning!

Our focus from now on can be summarized by these points:

1. We will add content, specifically in mid-late thirties and mid-late fifties and make the leveling speed smoother in those areas, reducing the need to grind.
2. We will have an overhaul of the PvP system - adding consequence and a host of small things.
3. We are fixing bugs you reported through all channels we can get information from.
4. We will add a new large outdoor region in the 55-60 range this summer!

As if Age of Conan subscribers didn't have enough to complain about already, now Funcom goes and forces involuntary plastic surgery on them. In a perfect, happy world, no one would have been paying enough attention to their character's animated breasts to notice, but when certain players logged in after the latest patch and broke out the tape measure, they realized their enormous busts had been busted. AOC forum user Gust even went as far as to provide photo evidence, seen above. No need to worry though folks, as Funcom promises things will soon be back to abnormal.

"Funcom can confirm that some of the female models in the game have had the size of their breasts changed. This is due to an unintended change in data that was introduced in an earlier patch, data which controls the so-called morph values associated with character models and the size of their respective body parts.
