EA On Why Saboteur, Dragon Age Isn't This Year's Dead Space, Mirror's Edge (The Saboteur)

Dead Space and Mirror's Edge were poised as massive, blockbuster new franchises for Electronic Arts last year, but while both were mostly critical successes (though Mirror's Edge nicely divided people), neither were the multi-million sellers they'd been pegged as. During the Pacific Crest 11th Annual Technology Leadership Forum, EA CFO Eric Brown was asked a tough question -- are Saboteur and Dragon Age: Origins this year's Dead Space and Mirror's Edge?

"Looking at the two franchises, we have more modest expectations for Saboteur," explained Brown. "It's a version one of that IP, kind of an open world set in circa early 1940s Paris. We've kind of set our expectations accordingly for that title, so that's probably one difference versus where we were, say, 12 months ago."

According to Gamespot - EA said that Pandemic's viva-la-resistance action-adventure had been pushed to the publisher's fiscal year 2010, which runs April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

Saboteur is the title of a World War II game in development at Pandemic Studios that focuses on the French Resistance's fight against Nazi occupation. German developer Ascaron had recently closed its doors. Their latest game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will be taken on by Deep Silver and Koch Media.

While the new PC add-on "Ice & Blood" comes out in August, Ascaron/Deep Silver/Koch Media were quiet about the console release.

Now it's known that the expansion is still planned. The add-on Ice & Blood is scheduled for December 09/January 10 for PS3 and Xbox360.

The LightFX system backlit Dell's now defunct XPS laptop line with numerous colors, while the LightFX SDK allowed developers to control these based on what was happening in the game.

Ascaron has announced the add-on Ice & Blood for Sacred 2 - Fallen Angel. According to PCGH the add-on will introduce a new character (Dragonmage) and deliver new features as well as two new areas.

NBC Universal Global Networks today announced that Koch Media Limited will sponsor the UK Sci Fi channel's primetime programming to tie in with the release of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.

Starting from today, the sponsorship will run for three weeks around titles such as the new spy series, My Own Worst Enemy, staring Christian Slater and movies including Minority Report and The Fast and Furious.

CDV Software is quickly readying patches for the console versions of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, fixing the online multiplayer of the PlayStation 3 version while making sure Xbox 360 customers get their pre-order bonuses.

If it seemed like the oft-delayed console version of Ascaron's action role-playing game was still a bit rushed, that's only because it was. Xbox 360 owners who pre-ordered the game from GameStop found that the redemption codes for their promised carrier imp bonus were not working, while PlayStation 3 users discovered that local co-operative game play couldn't be taken online as promised. CDV is currently actively working to fix these issues, according to updates scattered across their website and forums.
