THQ's to release a Warhammer 40K MMORPG at an unspecified date, the company's confirmed. The game is currently under development at THQ's wholly owned Austin-based outfit, Vigil Games. The title is a further extension of the company's grip over Games Workshop's number-crunching pen and paper RPG franchise, arriving after real success in the RTS field with Relic's Dawn of War series. THQ confirmed this morning that it has now signed a licensing deal for the 40K universe on all platforms lasting until 2013.

Ubisoft has sent word that Call of Juarez - the wild west themed shooter which was developed by Techland - will now be coming to the Xbox 360. The PC version was released in late 2006 in PAL regions and has been generally well received by gamers. America however has yet to see it released and so the game will now apparently be launched simultaneously on both platforms at some point in Q3 2007. The Xbox 360 version is reported to have Xbox Live support, with some of the multiplayer modes available to include, Death Match, Revival, and Attack and Defend. Capcom's latest Monster Hunter game has sold an amazing 750,000 copies in just its first week - even more than Final Fantasy III and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker managed on the DS and propelled the PSP console to sell nearly 100,000 units. In fact, only first party titles Pokemon Diamond / Pearl and New Super Mario Brothers sold quicker on DS. The five ten DS / PSP first weeks are:

Ensemble Studios has provided an update on the status of Halo Wars, the next real-time strategy game from the creators of Age of Empires.

"Last week, a bunch of Microsoft Games Studio (MGS) big wigs were down here to view the latest build of our game. This was more than a conventional milestone, as they sat down to play the game and get a hands on feel on how the project is really coming along. Our visitors included Shane Kim, the head of MGS, and a number of his cohorts. We made sure we had a fairly polished build of our game ready for these folks to play, including some wicked new UI work by Ensemble Studios Artist Andy Gotcher and Programmer Billy Khan. By all accounts the Microsoft gang had a good time with the game and was quite impressed with its current state. We've got a long way to go still, but it's very encouraging when a group like this can sit down and have fun beating the hell out of each other so far from any ship date.

With this latest build of the game, everyone at Ensemble Studios was invited to join in on an afternoon of multiplayer Halo Wars! I had a win and two losses, but generally felt like I was starting to shed my newb shoes."
