PS3 Fanboy writes: Sega has a pretty big list of games in production. Their espionage title, Alpha Protocol, was recently slapped with a February 2009 release date. That means it's going up against Killzone 2. Their other high-profile title, Valkyria Chronicles, got a release date of November 2008.
Two of the sky pirates from the Dreamcast Classic game Skies of Arcadia are making an appearance as playable characters in Sega's new PS3 epic.
According to Impress Watch, Valkyria offer players the option for a hard disk install. The install takes up 3,336 MB and apparently cuts down load times from the 15 second waits players would otherwise have to sit through when opting to play directly from disc.
According to a Japanese developer blog the game Valkyria Chronicles was originally planned as an Xbox 360 exclusive game. When the game was announced however, development had already switched to the Playstation 3 platform. According to publisher SEGA the game has been in development for over three years, and had switched platform early on in development. The exact reason why the developer switched to Playstation 3 was not mentioned.
Valkyria Chronicles is set to release exclusively on the PS3 in Japan in late April, and the folks at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe are expecting such a positive response, they've slated to have it hit stateside and across the pond sometime this autumn.
An update of the Valkyria Chronicles 2 official website features three new videos and introduces a new character, Forster Clementia.
PlayStation LifeStyle writes, "Interested in giving Valkyria Chronicles 2 a go and you either know Japanese or don't mind not understanding a word that is said? Well then Sega has just the deal for you as they have today released the VC2 Demo on their official site."
"The demo features features a new training mode as well as two playable missions. In case you are unaware, Valkyria Chronicles 2 is the follow-up to the PS3 title that released last year and starts 2 years after the events of the first game. The gameplay has remained mostly the same as you instruct your troops around the battlefield trying to outmaneuver the enemy troops."
Sega published three new videos featuring familiar faces from the first Valkyria Game (Alicia, Welkin and Princess Cordelia), one new gameplay video featuring the new multi-area maps and new information about several guest characters that will appear in the game.
As the hype over Valkyria Chronicles 2 grows, Sega released three new videos (two dialogue clips and one gameplay clip) and revealed seven new characters.
