The Casual Entertainment Label of Electronic Arts Inc. today released additional details on MONOPOLY (working title), the first Hasbro-branded video game set to launch on next-generation consoles including Wii and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. MONOPOLY will also be appearing on the PLAYSTATION®2 computer entertainment system as well as mobile phones and Pogo.com. The multiplatform video game is inspired by Hasbro's highly anticipated MONOPOLY HERE & NOW: The World Edition board game.
According to Capcom, pre-orders for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd (as the franchise is known in Japan) have already surpassed the 400,000 mark, making the dragon-slaying RPG sequel the most successful PSP game prior to release in Japan.
Capcom have today confirmed that Japanese multi-platinum selling Monster Hunter Portable 2G will be coming to European gamers as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Since its release in Japan earlier this year, the game has shipped over 2.4 million copies, making it one of the most successful games on the PlayStation Portable. To date the Monster Hunter series has sold over 7.8 million units worldwide. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is scheduled for release across PAL territories this coming spring.
Latest news states that Capcom, one of the major gaming companies, has sponsored an expedition to Guyana to hunt down two deadly creatures. Among the kill list for the expedition is the South American "Bigfoot" and a 40 foot Anaconda.
Capcom's latest Monster Hunter game has sold an amazing 750,000 copies in just its first week - even more than Final Fantasy III and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker managed on the DS and propelled the PSP console to sell nearly 100,000 units.
