360 News from N4G | Jeff Minter Project
360 - Jeff Minter Project - Space Giraffe Heads to Microsoft Those who have been following the progress of truly bizarre shoot-'em-up Space Giraffe will be pleased to hear the game's hit its alpha stage and is today heading to Microsoft for approval.

Speaking on his blog veteran and slightly bonkers developer Jeff Minter thought that progress was going extremely well on the Tempest-style shooter.

"We're going for an alpha release to Microsoft on Wednesday, then as soon as possible after, to our alpha team," he said, "At which point I'll get a lot more feedback which I am looking forward to. The release to Microsoft is a little bit scary because we effectively get the go/no go for the whole thing on this submission.

"But damn me if it doesn't look gorgeous and I think it plays really nicely so I would be very surprised if we have any problems there. Sure we probably aren't going to hit every TCR with alpha but we're not going for full cert yet, this is just show and tell so I think we should be ok."

Wii News | Jenga World Tour
Everybody's favorite real-life block-puzzler is due to arrive on Wii and DS this November, courtesy of Atari and Atomic Planet. It seems like the ideal application for the tactile goodness of Nintendo's current hardware, provided Atomic Planet can keep a steady hand, and doesn't let it all come tumbling down in a fit of drunken giggling. Both solo and multiplayer modes are offered, and "sophisticated" physics are promised (as opposed to "poorly-dressed" ones). It'll be interesting to see just ...

360 News from N4G | Jetpac Refueled - Xbox Live Arcade
360 - Jetpac Refueled - Xbox Live Arcade - Rare has a 'strong idea for Lunar Jetman' on XBLA Speaking to VideoGamer.com at last week's Develop conference in Brighton, Rare senior software engineer Nick Burton revealed that the developer already has its sights set on a Lunar Jetman remake for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Lunar Jetman was developed by Chris and Tim Stamper (co-founders of Rare) for the ZX Spectrum and is the sequel to Jetpac - a game which Rare has already updated for Microsoft's Xbox LIVE Arcade service.

"In our back catalogue, I've made no secret about the fact that if I was to do another XBLA game because that fitted in with what we do, which it doesn't at the moment... and that is at the moment. Because I'd done Jetpac and we'd already got a fairly strong idea for Lunar Jetman, I'd kind of like to do that providing I was given a hard deadline of six months, so it was really tight and quick. Mainly because there's that idea already there," explained Burton.
