Microsoft today announced that Treasure's arcade shooter Ikaruga is slated for a release this Wednesday on April 9, as was listed on Xbox Japan last month.
VG247: According to Treasure's site, Ikaruga's going to be published on XBLA this Wednesday. If you don't know, this means you should definitely buy it, although we say that with some caveats after the fiasco that was Mr Driller Online. Still, great news.
Ikaruga is a vertical shooter which was originally developed for the arcades before being ported to the Dreamcast and eventually the Nintendo GameCube. It is currently being re-worked for a release on the Xbox Live Arcade.
"It seems the April issue of Official Xbox Magazine has some information about the highly anticipated XBLA release Ikaruga. Specifically, it sounds like the game will be coming out very soon, as the magazine notes the game is already available with a graphic that reads "Out Now." It doesn't get much clearer than that. Unfortunately, given the nature of magazine lead times (people get April issues in March, etc.) it's hard to say exactly when Ikaruga will show up, but it's probably safe to say it should be out before the end of April. Oh, and for what it's worth, OXM gave Ikaruga a 9 out of 10, so things are looking up.
505 Games has confirmed that there will be a patch on the way for the PlayStation 3 version of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey.
505 Games has released the first round of downloadable content for their air combat shooter IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey. The DLC is available on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network, and adds six new single player missions to the campaign mode across the existing six theatres of war featured in the game. A new plane, the American P47D, previously only available to pre-order customers, is also included.
With the IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey releasing next week for PS3 and Xbox 360 it is about time that we got a little bit more information on the single player campaign.
