CheaPSP According to our sister site Next Generation, a PSP price drop to $149 may well be in the cards. Sony's handheld been getting spanked by Nintendo since the DS Lite was introduced, and high-paid analysts peg the company as likely to slash $50 from the system's price this fall. Well, those godawful thumb theater commercials can't be helping sales, but saving more than the price of a new game might... particularly now that gamers have to buy a Memory Stick, too, since the accessory-laden ...

Concave vs convex In a Newsdump first, we're linking to ourselves. Today, we brought you the first images of the PlayStation 3 in the same room as the Xbox 360 - perhaps even doing naughty things together (they're much closer than we ever envisioned.) As Neo GAF poster Wario64 eloquently pointed out, "It's huge lol" - the PS3 is significantly larger than Microsoft's new console, in a distinct role reversal from the prior generation, when the original Xbox threatened to crush the PS2. We're ...

Dead eyes Bet you never expected the worst affliction you'd pick up from slaughtering zombies is eyestrain. Most reviewers are in agreement with us - Dead Rising is a hell of a lot of fun. What isn't fun is trying to read the game's tiny text if you're playing the game without a crisp, clear and huge HDTV. If you're stuck in standard definition, the text in the game is so tiny that - even on a decent-sized TV - it's hard or impossible to read, rendering some of the game's content ...

Cheap HD? We'll see According to statements made during the latest podcast from Microsoft's number one paid fanboy Major Nelson, the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 will be the cheapest HD-DVD player on the market when it comes out. Since you can pick one up for about 500 bucks these days, we're more than a little skeptical that this is true. We're guessing you don't figure in the price of the Xbox 360 hardware - Microsoft may well be pretending that isn't a factor. Unfortunately, they're not ...

More of the same PlayStation worldwide studios captain Phil Harrison told British newspaper The Guardian that he would be "amazed if the PlayStation 4 has a physical disc drive." Seems odd talk from a man still struggling to convince the world it needs the PlayStation 3 - and its Blu-ray drive. According to Harrison, there are "right now more than 100 Blu-ray movies available today, in the US." Problem is, Phil, even when we give you credit for instant classics like Ultraviolet and Basic ...

Tuesday 8 August 2006 Square Enix, the developer behind Final Fantasy and a host of other successful RPGs, has decided to start work on its own games machine. It seems Square has been liaising with Japanese coin-op giant Taito to produce some sort of games related hardware. If that sounds vague, that's because Squre Enix president Yoichi Wada doesn't seem too clear on what the product will be either. "In our talks with Taito [which was acquired by Square Enix in September], ideas for an actual ...

Master Chief brings a wicked Ryu Obviously, we're kidding - he probably couldn't work the joystick through that armor. However, we can point you toward the next best thing. Our man inside tells us that a huge chunk of the Halo 3 dev team just registered to participate in the world finals of the EVO2006 gaming tournament, taking place in Las Vegas this August 18-20. We're guessing they're most interested in Dead or Alive 4 than Street Fighter, but there are six different ass-kicking simulators ...

Wanna be a Hobbit? Remember Lord of the Rings Online? Given that there are now more MMOs than there are Korean citizens, we'd forgive you for forgetting, but never fear - it's still on the way. Developer Turbine (Dungeons & Dragons Online) has 125,000 willing Middle-earth addicts lined up already to be beta testers, but they say there's room for more still. If you want to apply, head to the official website and let them know. Be warned of two things: You're going to need a beefy PC to run the ...

Our sister site Next Generation has compiled a list of the top 100 games of the 21st century. The list focuses on sales - which may mean that your favorite games aren't anywhere near the top. However, when it comes to voting with dollars, this is how it all breaks down. For example, the number 100 game on the list is Ninja Gaiden, which many will agree is one of the best games on the Xbox system, and our beloved Psychonauts probably isn't even in the top 200 - that means it's hardly fair ...
