PS3 News from N4G | Final Fantasy XIII
PS3 - Final Fantasy XIII - FFXIII up and running and December EGM Preview The November issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) reports that although info on Final Fantasy XIII is tight and hard to squeeze out of Square Enix, one tidbit has popped out, Final Fantasy XIII is up and running on Playstation 3 hardware as of now (see scan 1). Whether FFXIII has just gotten up and running on PS3 hardware recently or if it's been up and running and this info has only just made it to EGM is unclear. If it's the case that FFXIII has just gotten on PS3 hardware recently, the prospect of seeing it inside 2008 seem slimmer than ever, especially in english.

Also, on the last page of the November EGM issue (see scan 2) it's revealed that FFXIII is on the top of the list for previews to be featured in next months issue. Look for scans of that very preview a month from today on FF-XIII.net.

PS3 News from N4G | Final Fantasy XIII
PS3 - Final Fantasy XIII - Fabula Nova Crystallis FFXIII trailer at TGS Final Fantasy XIII is a long way off. We're placing bets on a 2009 release in Japan. Those of us attending Tokyo Game Show this year won't see much of it, that is, unless we wait in painfully long lines to watch the game's trailers. Square-Enix announced today via its official TGS 2007 web site that it would be showing trailers for Dragon Quest IX, Last Remnant, Final Fantasy XI, Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII in two theaters. For fans of the Squenix brand of software, seeing the last two will require marathon style queues. They're only being shown in the company's Closed Mega Theater. So bring your copies of Crisis Core, kids. You're going to need something to keep you quietly occupied in line for a couple hours.

PS3 News from N4G | Final Fantasy XIII
PS3 - Final Fantasy XIII - Square's AGDC Keynote: Final Fantasy XIII Runs on 'Cross-Platform' Engine Final Fantasy XIII (FFXIII) is currently a PS3 exclusive, but Square Enix's Hiromichi Tanaka said in his keynote address at the Austin Game Developers Conference (GDC) that the game is being developed with a "cross-platform" engine:

"Development is proceeding smoothly now, with the framework now beginning to take shape. Last year we went through a development reorganization, with the development of our own cross-platform middleware ¿ the White Engine. This is the foundation for FFXIII and the new MMO."

Up until then, the White Engine had always been referenced as PS3-specific. However, Takana's keynote does not mean we should jump to the conclusion that FFXIII will appear on more platforms. Consider this: Gears of War and BioShock were built on a "cross-platform" engine, (Unreal Engine 3,) does that mean both titles will appear on additional platforms? It does mean that platforms other than the PS3 will possibly benefit from future Square Enix products based on the White Engine.

In addition to FXIII and the new MMO, Takana's keynote also covers real money trading (RMT), its problems and lessons, and Wings of the Goddess (Final Fantasy XI expansion.) Read the full article for details.

PS3 News | Final Fantasy XIII
Sept 06 2007 Ok, so it's a bit of a fanboy line - but Final Fantasy VII was the game credited with single handedly popularising RPGs outside of Japan. Tomorrow will be the game's tenth anniversary, and those fanboys are still trying to find a way to resurrect Aeris. But with its past success looming over the Japanese developer, will Square Enix be able to make FFXIII do for PS3 what FFVII achieved for PSOne? FFVII was a massive step up for the series in almost every respect, weaving a ...

PS3 News | Final Fantasy XIII
You've trashed through Final Fantasy XII and put the PS2 to bed, and now you're looking for some FF action on your shiny new PS3, but you've got a while to wait. Square Enix had little to say about the next episode of the epic RPG series at Sony's PlayStion Premier show in Tokyo earlier, only revealing that it's a mere 13 percent into the game's development. The parallel game, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, is even further off, sitting at 1.3 percent in the making at the moment, according to ...

PS3 News from N4G | Final Fantasy XIII
PS3 - Final Fantasy XIII - PS3 So what if Square Enix isn't gracing the PS3 with a game until 2008? So what. Final Fantasy XIII is married to PS3 hardware. Just listen to Square Enix character creator Tetsuya Nomura (above, into jewerly) drone on about the PLAYSTATION 3:

It's not just about how pretty the graphics are but more of how much limited amount of movement we can put in one go and how big our imagination and ideas are. The PS3 is the machine that is closest to being able to express our imagination.

See, the PS3 is not expressing their imagination, because Square Enix's imagination is way too big for that. Just look at all the games they release! Rather, the Sony console is CLOSEST to achieving that. And for you to play Square Enix's immense imagination, you're going to have to wait, not rush things and take it nice and slow.

PS3 - Final Fantasy XIII - RUMOR: Final Fantasy XIII May Have More Than One Home When questioned about Final Fantasy, Mr. Wada said;

"As of now we have no change in plans. However, just because it is designed for the PS3 does not mean that it is absolutely unusable in any way whatsoever on another platform. With regard to sales, we look at timing. It's not just about how many units are available at a certain time; influence¿ is also very important."

PS3 News | Final Fantasy XIII
We're approaching the ten year anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix's most popular series installment, and already rumors are starting to strengthen that the RPG powerhouse may release a Tomb Raider Anniversary-style remake to celebrate the occasion. That's not happening, according to Square Enix character designer Tetsuya Nomura, who's made the biggest debunk yet of the persistent rumor in Japanese magazine Dorimaga. "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you ...
