Konami announced today via a press release that a Dance Dance Revolution game will be released for the Wii sometime this year. According to the press release, Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party will somehow incorporate the Wii remote AND Nunchuk into the "timeless gamplay".

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., has announced the launch of the official 2009 DanceDanceRevolution U.S. Championships. Beginning September 26, the first-ever national DanceDanceRevolution competition will bring together the greatest DDR players from around the country to compete in seven different regional tournaments all over the United States. All this action will culminate when the top dancers in each region will advance to the National Finals in Las Vegas on December 5th, 2009 where the number one DanceDanceRevolution player will be crowned.

Is this one of Konami's Major Announcements? The was an article about it last Saturday, which told us there will be "earth shattering" news regarding the company and several titles they will be releasing.

Well, now that time has passed and we have seen one of their their games unearthed. The New Title Dance Dance Revolution Universe will be an Xbox 360 Exclusive according to their website.

One of the best features will be the online multiplayer functionality.

"What we can say is that the game will certainly feature similar online/Live features to the Xbox version which was out last year ¿ which allowed up to sixteen people to take part in fun online dance-offs" stated a Konami Rep.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) put the video game Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) to the test and fond that the game can be a very good workout for children. ACE commissioned the study out of the University of Wisconsin to look at the caloric expenditure of players during the game.

The study used male and female subjects from 12 to 25 years old and half the volunteers were under 18. The study showed that players had a marked increase in exercise intensity as they participated.

Adults burned more calories and on average teens burned 5.9 kcal/min on light, 6.7 kcal/min on standard and 8.1 kcal/min on difficult mode. Test participants used DDR Extreme 2 for the PS2 and a dance pad.
