While this mech battler may well enthrall those with the patience to decipher its deep customization, Armored Core 3 Portable - only downloadable on the PlayStation Network - feels extremely dated, and its transition to handheld is awkward.

Joe Danger

The debut game from UK indie Hello Games, Joe Danger has a cracking pedigree taking in the likes of Burnout, Black, Virtua Tennis and Geometry Wars Galaxies. Superficially a 2D stunt racer, it's actually a gleefully clever racing/platformer/puzzler/sandbox hybrid and so far, we've had a hoot with it.

This member of the DSiWare Electroplankton family is likely to turn the most people off, since you have to use the DS's microphone exclusively to interact with the Nanocarp. Doesn't sound like something we'd want to bust out on a crowded bus.

It's not every day that we see a new entry in Nintendo's Excitebike series, but seeing as this installment is exclusive to WiiWare, we're guessing that a lot of people won't even know it exists. Shame, because the "tilt your controller to balance your bike" idea worked really well in Wario Ware: Twisted! on GBA.
