Payday 2: Crimewave Edition hits PS4 and Xbox One in June

Get ready to stuff your 1080p duffle bag on PS4 and Xbox One. 505 Games and developer Overkill plan to bring Payday 2 to new-gen consoles in June with the Crimewave Edition, complete with a bunch of the post-launch stuff PC players have enjoyed since its original release.

The updated version will naturally look prettier than the PS3 and Xbox 360 releases, boasting 1080p resolution on both systems. It will also receive more regular updates: Overkill told Eurogamer that it will have an easier time keeping the game current on new-gen systems, and that it plans to keep building up the Crimewave Edition and PC version through 2016 and beyond.

PC players have received a surprising breadth of free and paid DLC for Payday 2 since the game released in 2013, including a bunch of new missions, gear, and even a few new Heisters to control. It's good to hear that new-gen console players will be able to enjoy those efforts too.

On top of that, pre-ordering the Crimewave Edition from participating retailers will unlock the Hard Time loot bag, which includes a red-dot weapon sight for use on all rifles, an exclusive skull mask, another exclusive mask depending on your console of choice, an "I Love Overkill" mask pattern, a unique color pattern, and a bunch of in-game cash so you can buy more upgrades from the get-go.
