The burgeoning success of the comic is reflected in the attendance numbers of the Seattle-area convention, having nearly doubled in size in each of its three years since 2004, growing to almost 20,000 this year. Even for people who don't regularly read the comic, the appeal is hard to deny for gamers of any stripe: playing console, PC, tabletop and portable games with people from around the country, in tournaments or just for fun.

In addition to the bevy of developers showing off new games to attendees, there were gaming-themed concerts that drew crowds of thousands each night. This year's performers included the Minibosses, the NESkimos and Optimus Rhyme.
