Paul W.S. Anderson's Three Musketeers get a teaser trailer

A teaser trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers has arrived online.

Unlike the recent Conan trailer, this one manages to give a decent flavour of the movie in under 90 seconds.

Given that it's from the director behind the Resident Evil and Death Race franchises, it's no surprise that this isn't a stuffy, reverent period piece.

This version sees Logan Lerman ( Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief ) as the latest actor in a long line to portray D'Artagnan, while Matthew McFayden, Ray Stevenson and Luke Evans make up the musketeers.

Christoph Waltz, Milla Jovovich and Orlando Bloom are on villain duties, and there's even a small role for the latest Dark Knight Rises recruit Juno Temple.

The trailer makes it clear that this is going to be a 'revisionist' take on the Alexandre Dumas tales, with plenty of over the top action and lots of flashy, if historically dubious, weaponry.

There's not a great deal of time for characterisation amidst the bangs in this promo, but we do at least get to glimpse the dynamic of the central threesome.

Give the trailer a watch here:

The Three Musketeers is released on 14 October 2011.
