Paul Feig says his Ghostbusters film is inspired by The Walking Dead

Paul Feig has been discussing what has influenced his take on the Ghostbusters franchise, and apparently The Walking Dead has been a key touchstone.

Feig has previously spoken about his desire to blend comedy with some genuine scares, and the director has been looking to the popular zombie saga for inspiration on the latter…

“I will say, I was very inspired by this show,” said Feig during an appearance on AMC’s fan show, The Talking Dead. “What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run.”

“And that’s something… an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead.”

Co-starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, Ghostbusters will open in the US on 22 July 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed.
