Like a less authentic sibling to Gruff Rhys’ Separado!, Marc Evans’ road movie riffs on Welsh migrants in Argentina.

Fractured Welsh couple Gwen and Rhys (Nia Roberts, Matthew Gravelle) roam the Pampas, while an aged émigré (Marta Lubos) and her young neighbour (Nahuel Pérez Biscayart) travel from Patagonia to Wales. On both fronts, DoP Robbie Ryan offers expansive views.

Shame, then, that the two tales crowd rather than complement each other.

As conviction slowly croaks, pop star Duffy’s cameo drives one last nail into the film’s coffin.
