Parents prefer Trekkies

American parents would rather their daughters dated Star Trek fans than blokes they met on the internet, according to a new survey. It’s not all good news for lovelorn Trekkies, however, as they were voted the third least popular suitors in research carried out for the really fun-sounding Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee.

1200 adults responded to the web privacy survey, with 31.9% naming internet boyfriends least-wanted, 22.3% disliking guys picked up in bars and 16.1% showing prejudice towards Trek aficionados – presumably they’re not keen on all that boldly going where no man has gone before.
