Normally, when people get played off at the Oscars, it sounds like you've accidentally tuned into a Hallmark True-Life movie, just as the booze-addicted mum is telling her kids that she loves them, even though she's sold them to a drug-addicted leopard (or whatever, we've never seen one of those films).
But this year, when speeches over-ran, the Academy piped in the completely terrifying
theme. It seemed to do the trick, sending overly verbose winners scurrying to their seats.
And it's not just an awesome theme, it's thematically appropriate.
After all, when Spielberg's
was nominated for Best Picture, he famously didn't get a Best Director nod. We wonder if that's happened since?
