In issue 212 of Total Film magazine – the Fantasy Issue out now! – we bring you some out-of-this-world exclusives from the biggest, mightiest movies coming your way .
Inside the issue – which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad – we spoke to Olivia Wilde about her improv-heavy role in indie comedy Drinking Buddies .
You can read the full interview with Wilde inside the issue, but here’s an exclusive extract in which the Tron: Legacy actress talks about female roles in Hollywood, and how easy it is to become typecast...
" Cowboys & Alie ns was one of the most fun experiences of my life," she says. "But I kept getting cast as either a programme or an alien.
"I felt like Pinocchio, I just wanted to be real! Oh God, please just let me be flawed and complex and human. Also, I think it's rare to find female characters that are neither perfect nor villainous.
"Quite often the women are either the beautiful, perfect girlfriend or the evil ex-girlfriend. It's never the girl who's really great in some ways but gosh, she's flawed and frustrating."
For much more from Wilde, and a whole host of other mega-names (including the Thor: The Dark World cast, Bryan Cranston, Cate Blanchett and many more), pick up the brand-new issue 212 of Total Film magazine, which is out now.
We focus on the most exciting fantasy movies – including The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug and There And Back Again , Warcraft and many more – taking a close look at Marvel's second Phase II outing, Thor: The Dark World .
