Official Xbox Live app released for iOS

Well, this feels weird to type: Microsoft has released an official Xbox Live app for iPhones that closely resembles the one found on Windows Phone 7 devices. Microsoft. iPhone. App. Strange... The app has a fairly robust set of features, allowing Xbox Live members to view their Achievements, send messages to friends, delete and add friends, and even change their Avatar's outfit, all from the iPhone or iPad screen.

While it's far from innovative by any means, it's still a neat little addition. We can see ourselves using this to send messages and accept friend requests even when we're using the Xbox 360 - it's easier to tap out a message on the iPhone's screen than it is to find our Chat Pad or to send a message using the standard Xbox 360 text input.

It's free and available now, so there's really no reason not to pick it up right here. Unless, you know, you really don't care about Xbox Live all that much, in which case we can't blame you for ignoring it completely.
