Here's what it's like to explore No Man's Sky
No Man's Sky definitely looks cool, but the recurring question remains: "what do you actually do?" Sony and developer Hello Games have begun publishing a series of videos to lay out the complicated answer to that simple query, each focusing on one of the game's four "pillars": explore, trade, fight, and survive. Here's the first.
Exploration is arguably the one facet of No Man's Sky we already knew best. With all those planets to name and alien species to document, it was always clear that we'd be spending a lot of time just wandering around. Still, it's exciting to get a taste of the nigh-boundless universe waiting for us all to start rocketing around within it.
No Man's Sky will be released on August 9 in the US and August 10 in the UK - for real this time, since it's gone gold and all. I expect Sony to roll out the videos on a weekly basis until then, so be sure to check back for more on trading, fighting, and surviving soon.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.

Oh, that's why the Stellar Blade devs were terrified by demo players: one fan's spent "about 60 hours" maxing Eve's skill tree before the action RPG is even out
