No Jurassic Park 4?

Say goodbye to the idea of dinosaurs with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads: it looks like Jurassic Park 4 is dead.

Okay, so maybe the weaponised terrible lizards weren’t a concept likely to fly (no matter how much screenwriter John Sayles liked the idea). But Jurassic Park 4 has been in development for so long that we actually started to look forward to it.

But now producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy have all but shot down the idea. “"No, I don't know. You know, when (Michael) Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it,” Kennedy told Coming Soon. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

The future?

Of course, given the bucket loads of money the franchise has made for Universal over the years, we doubt it’ll completely give it up as extinct.

It’s more likely that it’ll drift back into development limbo, where screenwriters such as William Monaghan – the last person to have a crack at the script – will still get the chance to indulge their wildest Jurassic ideas.
