New Trailer For A Single Man

Tom Ford, creative director of Gucci from '94 to '04, and more recently the man who dressed Bond in Quantum of Solace , has generated plenty of Venetian buzz with his feature debut A Single Man .

Based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood, the film follows 24 hours in the life of British professor George (Colin Firth), as he heads for a breakdown in the wake of the sudden death of long term partner, Jim.

Juliette Lewis, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode also star, and the script was adapted by Ford himself along with David Scearce.

Ford's pedigree as a director has more credibility than you may expect - he had a hand in much of the photography for advertisements at Gucci while serving as Creative Director, which saw him revitalise the ailing brand back into a global fashion powerhouse.

Now the man with the midas touch has turned his attentions to cinema, his ability to strike gold seems thoroughly intact, based on the strength of this trailer, and the overwhelmingly positive buzz surrounding both the film and Firth's performance, which netted him Best Actor honours at Venice.

A Single Man is screening at this year's BFI London Film Festival, commencing 16th October.
