New poster for Paddington Bear movie

Paddington , the big screen adaptation of the adventures of Paddington Bear, has released a new poster online featuring the silhouetted shape of a rather familiar little critter.

Clutching his suitcase and sporting his familiar hat and duffle coat combo, Paddington stands framed by a pair of trains, looking off across the London skyline at such notable landmarks as Big Ben, St. Paul's and the Gherkin.

Inspired by the classic children's stories by author Michael Bond, the film will be directed by The Mighty Boosh 's Paul King and will feature a mixture of live action and CGI. The story will be taken from an original screenplay, rather than resembling a specific adaptation of any one of Bond's tales.

Harry Potter 's David Heyman is on production duties, and he's been quick to talk up Paddington's potential to light up the big screen. "Paddington Bear is a universally loved character," he says, "treasured for his optimism, his sense of fair play, and his perfect manners – and, of course, for his unintentional talent for comic chaos."

"Michael Bond's books offer such wit and wonder," he continues, "and I am so delighted at this chance to bring Paddington to the big screen." Paddington is expected to arrive at some point in 2014.
