Valve has just announced the release date for ‘The Sacrifice,’ new DLC that’s coming out for both Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2. ‘The Sacrifice’ will be a prequel to ‘The Passing,’ and will follow the original four survivors as they make their way South. The DLC will also introduce what Valve is calling ‘Sacrificial Gameplay,’ which has players decide who will die in order for the group to move on.
The Sacrifice will be available for both Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2, but they are separate downloads. Those who download the DLC for L4D1 will get the Sacrifice campaign in addition to maps for the Versus and Survival modes.
Those who download the DLC for L4D2 will get ‘The Sacrifice’ campaign as well, but will be playing as the original Left 4 Dead survivors. But L4D2 players will also get the ‘No Mercy’ campaign. According to Valve, “Both campaigns are playable in Campaign, Versus, Survival, and Scavenge modes and both will feature the Left 4 Dead 2 Special Infected, items, and weapons. Yes, Zoey with a chainsaw!”
‘The Sacrifice’ is scheduled for a targeted release on October 5 and will be available for 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE. Of course, PC gamers will be getting it for free.
