91. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (April 29)
Releasing on: Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, PC
We’ve been patiently waiting for a great Spider-Man game to match the open world fun of Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows. Developer Beenox has handled the very nearly good Spidey games of the last several years, and the title based on 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man brought back an open world New York City and delivered a moderately fun web-slinging experience--even if it was filled with boring missions. The next film tie-in, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has Beenox returning the webswinger to Manhattan, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that the team can finally create the spectacular, sensational, next-gen Spidey game comic nerds have been dreaming of.
Beenox has said all the right things to make us intrigued. Real building-to-building web swings are back, Spidey will be fighting more colorful villains instead of a bunch of personality-free robots, and it will take place before the film, so no annoying movie spoilers like in the last game. Beenox has failed so many times to make a great Spider-Man game, but we want to believe that this will finally be the game where they’ll make their mark on the character.
