New Front Mission Evolved screens show out-of-mech segments, sniping, evolved HUD

Wait, sorry – you really don’t care about the HUD, do you?

Above: Note the green dots on the radar. Looks like you've got some help on this mission. Wonder if they're co-op or CPU-controlled?

Above: Who names an orbital elevator "Percival"?

The thing I really hate about this game is how Squenix specifically says they're targeting Western gamers. Like I didn't want a localized Front Mission 5? Screw you, Squenix. Let me know if you ever drop those blind pretences of Western gamers and bring us another proper strategy RPG.

Please, somebody make Chromehounds 2 so I can play a good online Mech game.

That looks a lot like armored core and that worries me.

I've played the first and fourth Front Missions. My biggest problem with those games was how boring they felt, what with their big, slow, gray robots fighting on big, washed-out battlefields. They even made every menu and text box a big, gray rectangle with a black border. The gameplay and story were good (in the fourth, at least; I hated the first but finished it anyway), and I didn't even mind the micromanagement, but the games just had this pervasive boringness seeping out of everything. Had they just worked on the presentation, these games could do well. They had fun, strategic gameplay. I don't think slapping the Front Mission name on some random mech action game and calling it a reboot was necessary.
